Written Works

"Surround yourself with positive people. Also, be a positive person. Root for people. Somebody else's success is not your failure."

Bill Burr

Writing is a form of expression. Writing, no matter how big or small, acts as a form of release for me. I mostly pen down my thoughts to think more clearly. Taking down my thoughts allows me to reflect better and discover more about my art.

I have been writing since I was a child. Back when I still had Max, I would write and sketch everything I did during the day in my little journal and share it with Max at night. Not even my parents were allowed to read it. In school, my language teachers noted that I had a "flair for writing". Max would be proud.

Now I share my writings with you, with works as far back as 2018. These works reflect the ever-evolving topics and themes that are important to me.

'Problem Child'
Playscript
(2024)

Alex, a 34-year-old yearning for connection, finds solace in an unexpected place: a Vietnamese hostess who makes him feel truly seen. However, the ghosts of his past loom large. Raised by controlling, ambitious parents, Alex fears their disapproval and hides his new love.

His younger brother, Andy, the golden child, becomes his unlikely confidante. Bound by a shared history of navigating their parents' expectations, they form a pact – a secret exchange where each hides the other's transgressions. This fragile alliance exposes a truth they've both long known: their parents' suffocating love has fostered a cycle of doubt and tension.

Their secret world is thrown into chaos when the truth threatens to surface. Alex faces a heart-wrenching choice: appease his critical family or finally pursue his own happiness. Will he risk his family's approval for a chance at true love? With their bond on the brink, Alex and Andy must confront the legacy of their upbringing and decide if they can rewrite their own stories.

Problem Child is a play about breaking free from the shackles of expectation, the healing power of connection, and the enduring strength of brotherhood. Abuse does not have to be seen for it to be real.
